The People's Republic of China boasts one of the most recent systems of food law in the world. The PRC undertook a fundamental reform after the infamous Melamine Crisis.
In research and teaching of Chinese food law I have joined forces with the Center for Coordination and Innovation of Food Safety Governance at Renmin School of Law in Beijing.
At Renmin University, I had the pleasure to teach a course in EU food law to students in Renmin's food law programme and guests from the government an business sector.
Dr. Sun Juanjuan has translated the EU Food Law Handbook into Chinese language. Under the 13th Five-Year Plan a national key publications planning project has been set up aiming at a "Food Safety Social Co-Governance Research Series". The books to be included in this series were selected through the Shanghai education and education integration project "National Major Service Publishing Project for Colleges and Universities."

At the European Institute for Food Law we started a project aiming at a systematic analysis of Chinese Agri-Food Law.
